Recently published paper with Drs. Tang, Jessup and Campbell-Thompson delineates islet innervation in humans. Sympathetic fibers (TH+) were observed in islets from controls and patients with T1D and the TH+ fibers coursed adjacent to α-cells in addition to following the islet microvasculature. Our islet innervation studies were also presented at the American Diabetes Association annual meeting, 2018 in the Transformational Technologies in Islet Biology session.
